EU Customs: Exporter Approved, Exporter Registered, what status to use?
The latest changes in evidence of origin in several preferential agreements confirm the increasing willingness of the EU and its partner countries to standardize systems by giving priority to the REX system .
Although the statements appearing on the trade documents are substantially the same for both statutes, it is important to make a good difference, both in terms of obtaining status and in terms of the wording of the proof of origin:
- The status of Authorised Exporter (EA) is always requested via the Cerfa form and must be accompanied by many other documents. This status makes it possible to establish Declarations of Origin on Invoice (DOF),
- The registered exportation (EE) status requests directly online on the customs SOPRANO teleservice and allows to write a Certificate of Origin on Document (AOF) as proof of preferential origin.
Attention: In both cases, with each change made, it is essential to update the authorizations: change of production process, addition of country of destination, regulatory change made for the definition of proof of origin.
