Revised Kyoto Convention (CKR): a new member, Costa Rica!
On 23 October 2025, the World Customs Organization confirmed Costa Rica's accession to the revised Kyoto Convention, stressing its willingness to join the actors involved in the harmonization and simplification of customs procedures.
A month after Moldova, Costa Rica becomes the 140th Contracting Party of the 187 members of the WCO, and the 12th country in the region South America, Central America, Caribbean & North America to join this convention.
With this accession, the country reaffirms its commitment to modernise its customs administration and to adopt the international standards promoted by the WCO. The objective is to facilitate trade, enhance transparency and improve the effectiveness of controls.
For the WCO and the international customs community, each new accession illustrates the growing spread of good practices in simplification and harmonization of procedures, helping to make global trade more fluid and coherent.
