Sourcing China: Provinces raise minimum wage in 2021
At the beginning of the year, some Chinese provinces raised the minimum wage, while others were cautious in freezing them in order to maintain economic competitiveness...
At the beginning of 2021, Jiangxi, Heilongjiang and Shaanxi increased the minimum wage and those ofTianjin, Chengdu and Jilinannounced an increase during the year.
By 2020, due to the health crisis, the majority of the regions had decided to defer the minimum wage.
Themonthly minimum wage exceeds 2000 CNY (about 260 EUR) in 6 regions :
- Shanghai
- Guangdong
- Beijing
- Tianjin
- Jiangsu
- Zhejiang
But it is in Shanghai that it is the highest: 2,480 CNY/month (about 321 EUR).
The Chinese minimum wage It is not managed at the national level, it differs from province to province: each local government must adjust it at least every two years, adapting it according to local conditions.
Note
Most provinces establishdifferent wage levelsand the cost of living. As a result, the minimum wage in large cities is higher than in small towns or rural areas.
