Sea freight Morocco: the port of Tangier Med is doing well!

The 2017 statistics of the port of Tangier indicate a strong development of maritime freight activities.

In 2017 the port of Tangier has exceeded 50 million tons over a year (+15%), reached the 7,8 billion EUR of goods exported, treated 3.312,409 TEU (+12%) for a tonnage of 37,404 million tons (+19%), and absorbed an increase of 9% in TIR units (international road transport).

It is important to remember that more 90% of the containerized traffic of the tangerois hub comes from transhipped volumes.

With the next delivery (2019) of two other terminals (capacity 1,3 and 4.2 million TEUs) the strong growth of the port should continue and register a little more like First order maritime platform towards West Africa (1st Tangier Med trading zone with 35% of volumes).
