DELTA IE: transition continues, adjustments to be made for export

Since 14 December 2025, the use of DELTA IE is mandatory for export declarations. As the deployment progresses, the customs administration announces new updates and upcoming communications, calling on companies to be vigilant, particularly on the export side.

The compulsory entry into service of DELTA IE marks a key step in the modernisation of French customs procedures. If deployment progresses, Customs confirms that the device remains in stabilisation phasewith technical adjustments and expected short-term operational clarifications, mainly for export declarations.

The first days of operation highlighted several technical difficulties DELTA IE, leading the administration to deploy corrective measures, in particular 16 December 2025. These updates have improved the management of EORI numbersincluding non-French, the treatment of sanitary and phytosanitary documentsas well as certain points relating to the Special information (S7000) and statistical values. For the import component (DELTA I), the overall operation remains stable at this stage, with few reported incidents.

Some anomalies concerning the Output messages (ECS/SDS) still persist in the export component. Although the majority of malfunctions have been corrected, some messages related to the exit of goods may still be rejected or mistreated. Customs provides for Additional short-term adjustments to secure all export flows.

Customs has announced the continuation of the technical updates, the regular publication of Operational instructions and instructions (2025.12.11-Notice_DELTA-IE_Export_SDS.pdf)and update of the anomalies log as they are resolved. These future communications will clarify how to deal with sensitive reporting cases and provide exporters with full ownership of the system.

Pending these clarifications, exporters may be confronted with variable processing times, One-time releases of reports, and must gradually adapt to new reporting practices. These situations can impact the logistical delays and generate Additional costs, especially if trading partners are not yet fully operational on DELTA IE.

In this changing context, companies are advised toanticipating their customs formalities to limit the risk of delays and blockages. It is also important to maintain close dialogue with all partners (suppliers, freight forwarders, EDI providers) and closely follow all official customs communications, which will specify the technical and functional developments of the system.

The anomalies identified concern: mainly export declarations (DELTA IE). Further clarifications and corrections are expected in the short term, stressing the need for active watch to secure operations.
