In recent months, the Algerian Ministry of Trade has increased the number of measures aimed at restricting imports, with the aim of rebalancing the trade balance of the country with a high deficit:
- 21 October 2017: announcement of the establishment of a new procedure for the residence ofall import transactions subject to resale in the state, prior to any shipment of goods to Algerian territory (cf.International atmosphere of November 2017)
- End of December 2017: publication of a list of851 products prohibited for import(cf.Actuality of 12/01/2018) at the beginning of 2018 and increased customs duties for 32 product families ranging from jam, soda to laptop computers and tablets and other cooking ovens.
An additional note from the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF) No. 947 of 26 December 2017 reinforces these restrictions: the ABEF specifies that, during the banking home, a «free marketing certificate« , a document to be covered by a « competent authority » of the exporting country.
