What are the beneficiary countries?
Five Central African countries will benefit from this project:
- Chad;
- Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC);
- Congo;
- Central African Republic;
- Equatorial Guinea.
What are the objectives of the project?
The administrative formalities at borders the economic development of Central Africa.
The aim of this initiative is to enable better coordination of national and regional trade and thus make Central Africa a stronger economy.
It will also, in the long run, allow real participation in theAfrican continental free trade area.
How is it implemented?
UNCTAD will offer a technical expertise the five member countries allowing the implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Each country will also be assisted in establishing a National Trade Facilitation Committee to benefit from the UNCTAD empowerment programme.
With the support of the African Development Bank, the budget for this project amounts to USD 458,000 and will continue its activities until October 2021.
