EU/United Kingdom agreement: additional time to ratify the agreement

London agreed to postpone the date of ratification to 30 April 2021.

At the request of the European Union, the United Kingdom agreed to extend until 30 April the period of provisional application of the post Brexit trade agreement in order to give the European Parliament more time to ratify it.

The provisional application of the Treaty, which entered into force on 1 January 2021, was originally due to end on 28 February (cf. EU/UK trade agreement: ratification process underway...). However, the European Parliament had quickly indicated that it would need more time to examine and sign this agreement. MEPs hope to vote in March.
