EU / Singapore: Trade Agreement enters into force on 21/11/2019

The European Commission's DG TRADE announced that the EU Member States have approved the trade agreement with Singapore.

Under the trade agreement, Singapore will remove all remaining customs duties on EU products.

The agreement will also legally protect 138 geographical indications of emblematic European products.

Singapore also agreed to remove non-tariff barriers in key sectors by recognising European standards (safety test for cars, labels for textiles, etc.).

Singapore is by far the EU's main trading partner in the Southeast Asia region More than 10,000 European Union companies are based in Singapore and use it as a hub for the entire Pacific region.

Singapore is also the first destination for European Investment in Asia, investment between the EU and Singapore is growing rapidly in recent years.
