Company at mission: 1,000 French companies embarked on adventure
Promulgated in May 2019, the PACTE Act (Action Plan for Enterprise Growth and Transformation) aims to:
- To remove obstacles to the growth of enterprises (from their creation to their transmission, through their financing),
- Better share the value created by companies with employees,
- Improve the integration of social and environmental issues into business strategy.
This law introduced, among other things, the quality of society on mission which allows companies to define their raison d'être and encourages them to adopt a voluntary responsible approach, beyond the pursuit of profit.
Defining the mission of your company allows you to make long-term commitments while maintaining the opportunity to make it evolve according to its own reality. To create it, three fundamental steps can be implemented:
- Define the raison d'être (it will be specified in the statutes and adopted by the general meeting) which will reflect the identity of the company, but also reflect its societal contribution,
- List the main social and environmental objectives (indissociable from enterprise activity),
- Establish the Monitoring Committee as a separate body from existing bodies.
However, four years after its creation, as demonstrated by a study conducted by KPMG, our country still has few companies on mission and it must be noted that they start timidly on the subject, since 62% of them are only planning in the medium term (2 to 3 years), with the risk of losing all the opportunities for an effective and sustainable progression logic.
