Since 28 October 2020, the SCIP (Substances of Concern In Products) database has been officially open for notification. The obligation to provide information on this basis applies from 5 January 2021, as provided for in the Waste Framework Directive and Ordinance No. 2020-920 of 29 July 2020 on waste prevention and management (to be issued).
The CHIS is the database containing information on substances of concern in articles, as such or in the form of complex objects (products), established pursuant to Waste Framework Directive.
It aims to raise awareness of the hazardous chemicals in articles and products throughout their life cycle, including during the phase « waste ».
In order to become familiar with the obligations related to CHIS, the ECHA presents on its dedicated page a summary diagram, the main definitions and the issues related to the database and the Substances of Extreme Concern (SVHC) in the articles.
A pedagogical and interactive presentation to use without moderation!
Note
- The ECHA proposeswebinars on this topic.
- A webinar in French will also be proposed by theHelpdesk France26/11/20.
