Concerned about the escalation of violence in Myanmar, Brussels maintains the sanctions against Naypyidaw.

More than three years after the overthrow of the government by the Myanmar Army, theandFebruary 2021, Brussels once again wishes to condemn the serious human rights violations still committed in the country.
But for the time being,Burmese products imported into the European Union still benefit from a tariff preferenceunder the Generalised Preferences System (GSP). Recall that Myanmar had long been removed from the GSP beneficiary countries list and recovered this advantage in 2013, thus reintegrating the special regime in favour of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), with nevertheless some pressure from Brussels which monitors the country's actions and could at any time be a volte-face.
In France, trade with Myanmar increased by 58.7% (or €607 million) in 2022, or much more than with Southeast Asia (+23.7%). Imports of Burmese products to France are almost entirely made up ofManufactured productsTextiles, clothing, leather and footwear (89.7%). Other imports are agricultural and agri-food products (4.9%) and mechanical, electrical, electronic and computer equipment such as telephones and telecommunications equipment (1.4%).
