MERCOSUR: Harmonization of labelling rules for textiles

SUPLY CHAIN

Mercosur countries: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay have adopted a technical regulation requiring similar labelling for textile products.

For sale in one of the Mercosur, textile articles must be labelled with the following information:

Name or trade mark of the importer or manufacturer and its tax identification number
Country of manufacture
Name and percentage of each textile fibre
Maintenance symbols and/or instructions
Clothing size/article

This regulation will have to be transposed into the legislation of each country before 15 June 2019.
