MACF: « step by step » for MACF registrant status application available

The national administrations, DGEC and Customs, have communicated this week on the modalities to be prepared for the final period of the MACF (Carbon Adjustment Mechanism at the Frontiers) which will begin on 1 January 2026.

In addition to our news, summarising the content of the webinar of 29 January (cf.MACF: back on the webinar of 29 January 2025), DGEC made available on its website onPresentation medium. This includes the « step by step » for the connection to the MACF 2.0 register for importers who will have to apply for MACF status in the course of the year. This support also allows you to understand the management of MACF certificates that will be purchased in 2026 to be allowed to import products covered by the regulations.

In parallel with the publication of the DGEC, the Customs Economic Action Poles (EAPs) provided importers with details of the procedures to be followed to create an account on the new MACF 2.0:

  • Note to MACF operators,
  • Connection Tuto for creating an account on the EU Login portal,
  • MACF Account Application Form.

Attention, as a reminder, the creation of an account on the MACF 2.0 register requires companies to have an EORI number based on their Siren and not on the SIRET. Importers must verify this point at their customs office with the exception of the approved Economic Operators (OAS) for whom the procedure is automatic.
