Ireland: Anti-Corruption Act declared non-compliant by OECD

The recent « Criminal Justice (Corruption Practices) Act 2018« * Ireland provides for a « double criminality », i.e. it is necessary that the offence constitutes a crime in Ireland AND in the country where corruption was allegedly committed.

However, if Irish persons or companies operate in a jurisdiction where anti-corruption legislation is weak or non-existent then no infringement is committed, which goes against the spirit of the OECD Convention*.
