On 7 August, the Indian Government published a new list of textile products subject to a customs duty rate of 20%.
To counter textile imports that increased by 16% between 2017 and 2018, India decided to increase import duties for 328 products. This increase occurs less than one month after the publication of a list of approximately 50 products of the same category.
This new measure concerns the textile section of the Customs Tariff and is targeted at Chapters 57, 61 and 62. Already in force, the nomenclatures concerned are taxed on imports, as are the products on the first list, at 20%.
