US Sea freight: extra week without overload for containers in California

In the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, the overload announced to tax the containers remaining too long to dock, is shifted to December 13.

The two main ports in California declared that the application of the « Container Dwell Fee », the surtax on containers stationing in terminals, would again be carried over by one week, i.e. until 13 December (US Sea freight: the overburden of containers again postponed).

Since the announcement of this fee on October 25, the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles have registered a combined 37% decline in aging goods. A new week of respite was therefore granted to shipping carriers before the possible introduction of this $100 surcharge.
