Sea freight: recovery of port traffic in Chinese ports

In 2017, Shanghai accounted for 20% of the overall activity of Chinese ports.

2017 Chinese Port Awards in Millions of Equivalent Twenty Feet (M TEU) :

  1. Shanghai : 40 M TEU (+8%)
  2. Shenzen : 25.20 M TEU (+5%)
  3. Ningbo : 24.60 M TEU (+14%)
  4. Guangzhou : 20.35 M TEU (+8%)
  5. Qingdao: 18.26 M TEU (+1%)
  6. Tianjin: 15.03 M TEU (+4%)
  7. Xiamen : 10.40 M TEU (+9%)
  8. Dalian: 9.53 M TEU (+9%)
  9. Suzhou : 5.88 M TEU (+5%)
  10. Lianyungang : 4.71 M TEU (+1%)

Tangshan, which grew from 1.9 M TEU in 2016 to 2.5 M TEU last year, or +31%, is the port of the Middle Empire having recorded the highest growth. On the other hand, with 1.86 M TEU Dandong is the only port with a decline (-6%).
