Air freight: new label for lithium batteries on January 1, 2019
Following numerous in-flight incidents triggered by lithium cells or batteries, the IATA regulations evolve each year to minimize the risks involved in transporting this type of goods.
From 1and April 2016, a ban was adopted on transport of batteries/batteries alone in passenger aircraft. It is no longer possible to send lithium cells or batteries alone on passenger aircraft and a specific label « Cargo aircraft only » shall be affixed to the packages.

During the 58thnd IATA edition, a new marking label has been defined for the carriage of lithium batteries, it will be mandatory on 1and January 2019:

Until 31/12/2018 the old label « lithium ion battery » may be used:

Attention In this case, some companies require the UN code on the packaging.
