Air freight Morocco: ready for take-off?
Moroccan operators grunt about air freight and infrastructure at Casablanca airport, the country's main airport hub.
At issue are archaic procedures (no dematerialisation), control agencies and bodies not ensuring a daily presence, a glaring lack of basic infrastructure (notably for fresh products) but also the alarming age of freight facilities.
The freight forwarders present in the area share this view and also demand better working conditions (living space, lighted road at night, internet connection).
The airport authorities are announcing major projects: in particular a rapprochement with PORTNET for the dematerialisation of procedures, and the renovation and construction of a new freight zone due 2021.
Discussions with control agencies are intensifying to allow continuous efficiency at the airport.
