Training Customs classification techniques: Mastering the tools and method to secure the customs nomenclature

Master the tools and method to secure the customs nomenclature. This training gives you the operational keys: structured program, practical workshops and deliverables applicable upon return to business.

In 2026, customs classification remains one of the most strategic elements of triptych species / origin / value. Poor classification leads to errors in customs duties, preferential origin, VAT on imports and exposes to checks, reminders of duties and fines.

The customs nomenclature is a complex system (sections, chapters, headings, subheadings) based on precise rules of interpretation. Without a rigorous method, the risk of error is high, especially on technical or multifunctional products.

This training allows you to move from understanding the subject to structured action, with an operational deliverable built at the end of the course.

Why Mastering Customs Classification Is Needed

Classification of products according to customs rules

The Restrictive Tariff Information (RTC) is the key tool for securing the ranking of a sensitive product. Knowing how to use, educate and mobilize it over time makes the difference between a defensive approach and a controlled one.

Use Customs classification tools

This training brings together ADV, procurement, registrants and operators with a reproducible methodology: product description sheet, identification of the determinants, tariff study, selection of the appropriate nomenclature. A pragmatic approach to processing your catalog.

Apply classification methodology

Without a shared methodological framework, customs actions may be dispersed and ineffective. This training gives you the benchmarks to structure the process over time.

Identify and secure declarations for intra and extra-Community flows

Customs partners, RDE, authorities, customers and suppliers are attentive to the level of customs control of their interlocutors. A structured approach strengthens credibility and fluidizes operational relationships.

Distribute with an Operational Deliverable

Many companies process customs classification on a case-by-case basis and expose their declarations to costly errors. This training gives you a replicable methodology and tools to secure your nomenclature sustainably.

Answers to your questions!

Who is this ranking training for?

This training is intended for ADV/Export sales managers, purchasing/importers, administrative/commercial assistants, ad hoc or regular ADV/Export/Import operators and customs registrants. Prior experience in intra-Community import, export or trade operations is expected.

What is TCR and why is it important?

Tariff Coercive Information (RTC) is an official decision of the customs administration that secures the classification of a product for three years throughout the European Union. The training explains how to educate and mobilize it over time.

Is the methodology suitable for all products?

Yes. The four-step methodology (descriptor sheet, identification of determinants, tariff study, selection of appropriate nomenclature) is reproducible throughout your product catalogue, from the simplest to the most technical.

Can the training be organised intra?

Yes. The intra-company format allows you to work directly on products from your catalogue, in your business context, to produce practical cases and methodological deliverables tailored to your issues.

Is this training financially available?

Yes. This training is eligible for professional funding schemes, notably through OPCOs and, depending on your situation, the CPF. The International d'ACTE teams can assist you in the identification of the device suitable for your company and in the associated procedures.
