UNITED STATES / KOREA : 1st official renegotiation of the KORUS Free Trade Agreement

Following the US President's statements calling the bilateral agreement with South Korea d »horrendous deal in the US trade deficit, and the threat of breaking the deal, Seoul had to resign itself to sitting at the negotiating table.

On 5 January in Washington, the two countries discussed together possible amendments to the KORUS,Free Trade Agreement between the United States and South Korea came into force in March 2012.

Negotiations will continue on a rotating basis in each country and both parties hope to have found common ground in the first half of 2019.
