International trade: EU trade balance continues to erode in 2017

Despite an increase in trade (import and export), in 2017 the European Union's trade balance (EU28) showed a further decline.
According to the official statistics of the European Commission, compared to 2016 the EU28's external trade grew by 7.7% in exports and 8.2% in imports.
While the EU28 trade balance is still positive in 2017 (+25 billion euro), it still shows a sharp decline compared to 2016 (+32 billion euro). €) : -20%!
Yet trade with the United States and China, its two main partners, remained relatively stable in 2017...
France, whose extra-EU trade balance grew by 15% in 2017, can boast of being among the most dynamic Member States in external trade, ahead of Germany.
