Digital ATA Book: A key evolution as of June 1, 2026
As of June 1, 2026, the ATA notebook is digitalized with the ATA e-Book. A concrete evolution that facilitates day-to-day operations and makes your international operations easier to manage, while limiting well-known unforeseen events on the ground.
As mentioned in our news of 2 May 2025, the ATA book is essential for your temporary international operations (salaries, demonstrations, temporary admission, commercial samples, etc.), and is entering a new phase of modernization. and progressive dematerialization.
As of 1 June 2026, all notebooks issued from France must be managed in digital format. An evolution that is part of the continuity of the steps already dematerialized, but with a real change to the key: the notebook itself becomes digital in its daily use.
What does that change for you and your teams?
In substance, nothing changes: you retain the same legal framework, the same customs guarantees and the same international recognition.
In practice, however, everyday life becomes simpler and more fluid.
No more books forgotten, lost or damaged while on the move. No more need for your drivers or collaborators to manage a paper document that is sometimes binding during customs crossings. The notebook is now accessible at any time, from a computer or mobile. The formalities are facilitated by QR codes, with real-time tracking and better traceability at each stage of the operation.
An attachment is attached. guide which accompanies you step by step in the procedures of the ATA e-Carnet. You can also find the formalities directly online via the website GEFI from your Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CCI.
The ATA e-Carnet will be gradually deployed from June 2026, while covering all French companies. As from 1 June 2026, it will be fully operational in the 27 EU countries, as well as in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Norway and the Overseas Territories.
For the other ATA countries with a total of 81, a gradual transition is planned until the beginning of 2028, in order to allow for a uniform adoption of the scheme throughout the world and to ensure a gradual transition for all users.
ATA is already a key tool for temporary operations abroad. With this dematerialization, companies will gain even more in simplicity and security, especially for their teams on the ground. These developments respond to very concrete needs, reduce procedures, save time, enhance the security of operations and modernise exchanges with customs services.
