Zambia joins the ATA Convention – a major simplification for international trade

The 6 November 2025, la Republic of Zambia has officially become the 65th Contracting Party to the Customs Convention on the ATA Carnet (ATA Convention).

This accession, formalised by the handing over of the accession instrument to the World Customs Organisation (WCO), represents a major step forward for companies engaged in operations totemporary admission of goods.

This integration further expands the network of 80 countries Recognising this scheme, providing new facilities for companies to operate temporarily: fairs, exhibitions, demonstrations, use of professional equipment or sporting events.

A key tool to simplify exchanges, the ATA book, often nicknamed the « passport of goods« , allows to import, export or transit goods temporarily Without customs duties or taxes subject to their timely re-exportation usually 12 months.
