Cambodia / EU: European importers be vigilant!
The Kingdom of Cambodia is under the spotlight of the European Union and the United States.
In question, the wave of repression that is intensifying in the country in the run-up to the legislative elections scheduled for July 2018 and the recent dissolution of the main opposition party by the Supreme Court of Cambodia.
If the political situation does not improve sanctions are to be foreseen, in particular economic sanctions on exported products by the country.
As a reminder, Cambodian products, including textiles, benefit from theexemption from customs duties under GSP (« Low-income countries »). Thus, the reintroduction of tariff barriers to entry into the European market could be very detrimental to European importers.
