BREXIT: vote by the United Kingdom Parliament « around » of 15 January 2019
The truce of Christmas last, the British Members will return to the path of negotiations from 9 January... On the logistics side, we already anticipate a road congestion at the port of Dover, in case of hard Brexit!
Initially scheduled on December 11, 2018, the vote on the draft separation agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom was postponed by Theresa May to a later date due to a high risk of failure (cf.BREXIT: Back... to jump better?).
The new voting date is scheduled « around » of 15 January According to a recent statement by the Prime Minister.
Despite this postponement, Mrs May has not yet convinced a majority of MEPs to approve the agreement and will have to argue and convince, or try to negotiate a delay of the deadline with Brussels... Because the deadline of 29 March 2019 is approaching and the suspense remains complete!
Community enterprises which practiseimport/export with or from the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) are increasingly concerned.
Monday 7 January, took placeto Dover an exercise to simulateorganization of road logistics flows in case of Hard Brexit, i.e. the restoration of a territorial and customs border between the EU and the UK: according to an estimate, iftime required for administrative formalities increased from 2 to 4 minutes per truck, this could generate27 km of plug on each side of the Channel !
