BREXIT: Back to the negotiating table
The talks between the United Kingdom and the European Union resumed on Thursday 22 October after a week of mutism and bouderie, each waiting for the other to take the first step... It was Brussels that broke the ice, Michel Barnier having told the European Parliament last Wednesday that‘a possible agreement would require efforts on both sides. The challenge is now big and all scenarios remain possible about ten days from the reasonable deadline – 31 October – to achieve a full legal agreement 1andJanuary 2021.
The negotiations are promising and numerous around the main issues of discord: the delicate question of fishing and access of Europeans to British waters, maintenance of Fair competition and Dispute Management in the future agreement.
On site in London, the European and British negotiators will exchange daily, including weekends,on all themes in paralleland on the basis of legal texts. As a result, discussions should continue in person or via videoconference, depending on the progress of decisions.
