Contrary to what had been announced the previous week on the British side (cf. BREXIT: still not agreed in sightThere has been no acceleration of negotiations between London and Brussels to find common ground and move forward on a post-Brexit trade agreement.
For the EU, the UK rejects difficult issues (fishing, governance, police cooperation, etc.) rather than addressing them as a priority.
To be in time and have a full legal agreement 1andJanuary 2021the terms should be fixed by the end of October, in two months.
As the European Union dreams of « fairplay » economic and commercial with standards and fair competition, London accuses it of making the discussions unnecessarily complicated.
But Brussels remains firm: there will be no access to the single market (« Cherry picking ») as long as the United Kingdom refuses to accept the rules of this market.
