BREXIT and Smart Border: ELO postponed, but it's just a goodbye!
Initially set for 1 April 2025, the implementation of the ELO (Compulsory Logistics Envelope) application, which is expected to smooth the passage of goods at the smart border between France and the United Kingdom, is postponed until mid-April. The mandatory date of use, scheduled for 1 September 2025, remains unchanged.
It's not a farewell, just a simple goodbye. ELO, the Compulsory Logistics Envelope, which was to be created on 1 April* to make it easier to cross the intelligent border, both import and export, wasstaggered for about 15 days, due to tests to make the solution reliable. The precise official date is not yet known and should be officially communicated around 10 April.
On the other hand, this shift did not have an impact on the end date of the transitional period, which is still scheduled for 1 September 2025.
As a reminder, ELO will centralise all the information necessary to cross the border under aunique bar codethereby simplifying the smart border process between France and the United Kingdom. Drivers of heavy goods vehicles will have to present this unique OLA reference, which will be created upstream by a single manager appointed by the various stakeholders in the supply chain.
