REACH Alert: Customs control authorities!

As part of the 7th European inspection project (REF-7), customs authorities are mobilised to assist inspectors mandated for the control of importers of chemicals.

The project aims to ensure respect for the Obligations for European importers (and manufacturers) to register substances, whatever the tonnage, with a focus on 1 to 100 tonnes.

The checks will be carried out throughout 2019 jointly by the two authorities.

They will focus on:

The conformity of registration records imported substances;
The Classification in substance « Intermediate » (for a manufacturing process);
The monomers and polymers;

The inspection teams will intervene in 31 European countries (including Norway, Lichtenstein and Iceland) and the European Economic Area countries.

Cooperation between customs authorities and ECHA is growing (cf. REACH controls: Customs called for reinforcement) !
